Afghan Turkic Community in Australia is a community-led organisation dedicated to supporting Uzbek and Turkmen migrants and families from Afghanistan as they build their lives in Australia.
We create a welcoming space where people can find support, build connections and develop a strong sense of belonging. Through settlement support, employment and education pathways, women and youth initiatives, and cultural and community programs, we help our community navigate new beginnings and participate confidently in Australia's multicultural society.
Our Story
For almost three decades, Uzbek and Turkmen people from Afghanistan have been building new lives in Australia. Despite being part of Australia's multicultural story for many years, our communities have often remained underrepresented, with limited culturally and linguistically familiar support available to newly arrived individuals and families.
Afghan Turkic Community in Australia was established to help change this. We wanted to create a welcoming first point of contact, a community where people arriving in Australia can connect with others who understand their language, culture and experiences, while receiving support to navigate their new lives.
Our work goes beyond settlement. We create opportunities that strengthen employment and education pathways, women's participation and inclusion, youth development, language and cultural preservation, and meaningful community connection.
We also believe that preserving our heritage and embracing Australian multiculturalism go hand in hand. By creating stronger connections within our community and with the wider Australian society, we hope to build a generation of Uzbek and Turkmen Australians who feel proud of their heritage, confident in their identity, connected to their communities and empowered to contribute to Australia.
